Mr. Mathews' practice concentrates in the area of governmental relations, administrative law, health care, and general practice. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Jacksonville State University, his Masters from Vanderbilt University, and his Bachelor of Law degree from Nashville School of Law. Mr. Mathews served as U.S. Senator of Tennessee from 1993 to 1995. He also served as a member of the Tennessee State Planning Staff from 1950 to 1954, Deputy Director of the State Budget Staff from 1955 to 1960, Commissioner of Finance and Administrative for Governors Frank Clement and Buford Ellington from 1961 to 1970, Senior Vice President for Housing B AMCON International, Memphis, Tennessee from 1971 to 1972, Legislative Assistant to State Comptroller, State of Tennessee from 1973 to 1974, Treasurer of the State of Tennessee from 1974 to 1987 (Elected by Joint Convention of the General Assembly), Deputy to Governor Ned McWherter and Cabinet Secretary from 1987 to 1993 and the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.
