David B. Marmon has engaged in the practice of law since he graduated from Wayne State University of Law School in 1981. He earned his masters of law in taxation in 1993. He has had a wide variety of experience including the areas of taxation, business law, collections, real estate, bankruptcy, family law and municipal law. He has taught federal income taxation and business law.
Notable property tax cases successfully litigated include:
• Meridian Properties v, Twp, of Meridian, 491 Mich 518 (2012) allowing taxable values to be adjusted prospectively for mistakes made in earlier years;
• Toll Northuille Ltd. Pt v. Twp of Northuille, 480 Mich 6 (2008) (striking down public service improvements from taxable value;
• Spartech Polycom v. City of St. Clair, 18 MTf 48 (2009), allowing evidence of on-line asking prices to be accepted as evidence in valuing personal property for taxation purposes.
