Carrie Wipplinger was drawn to workers' compensation law because it allows daily opportunities to solve problems and deliver tangible results for working people.
Carrie enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard at the age of 17, initially serving as a medical specialist and receiving her EMT-Basic qualification. Carrie then transitioned to a military intelligence unit and served as a linguist and tactical interrogator until her honorable discharge in 2003.
Carrie graduated with honors from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in English Language and Literature. She then went on to attend Golden Gate University School of Law, where she got her first exposure to workers' compensation law on the defense side as an intern for the San Francisco City Attorney's office. Carrie won first place in the State Bar of California Public Law Section's 2010 student writing competition and was a quarterfinalist in the Williams Institute national LGBT moot court competition. Carrie graduated 12th in her law school class of 175.
As an associate at Boxer & Gerson, LLP, Carrie is committed to helping injured workers navigate a daunting legal system. She has a special interest in legal writing, research and appellate advocacy, and is focused on helping shape the evolving body of workers' compensation law to ensure justice for workers. Carrie is co-author with Boxer & Gerson, LLP attorney Dennis A. Popalardo, Jr. of the workers' compensation chapter in the 2012 Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) California Basic Practice Guide. In addition to handling workers' compensation cases, Carrie also represents Social Security Disability claimants.
Carrie is a member of the LGBT bar association Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF), as well as the Alameda County Bar Association and the California Applicants' Attorneys Association.
