Lauren Michelle Marks was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended the Pennsylvania State University at University Park where she studied Film/Video and Political Science. Upon earning two Bachelor of Arts degrees, Ms. Marks returned to Pittsburgh where she attended Duquesne University School of Law. While in law school, Attorney Marks was an active member of the Duquesne University Trial Advocacy Program. As a member of the Trial Advocacy team, she competed twice in the Texas Young Lawyers Mock Trial competition placing as a finalist and semi-finalist She also competed in the American Bar Association Labor and Employment competition in Washington, D.C, Ms. Marks was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Student Advocacy Award for distinguished achievement in trial advocacy. Additionally, she was admitted into the Order of the Barristers for excellence in advocacy and service while at Duquesne University.
After graduating from law school, Attorney Marks served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Janet Moschetta Bell of the Washington County Court of Common Pleas.
Following her clerkship, Ms. Marks relocated to Berks County where she worked in the Public Defenders' Office. While in the Public Defenders' Office, Ms. Marks established a reputation in the community of zealously fighting for her clients' rights and freedom.
Today, Attorney Marks continues to fight for her clients as an associate at Emkey Law Firm where she specializes in family, civil, and criminal law. Ms. Marks is a member of both the Berks County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. In addition, Ms. Marks is Associate Solicitor for the Berks County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 71.
Attorney Marks lives in Berks County with her husband, Chad, and her stepchildren, Alexis and Trevor.
