Sheila Wirkus, a native of the Midwest, graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in History. She then worked as a paralegal in San Francisco before enrolling at Loyola Law School Los Angeles as a Loyola Scholar. During law school, Sheila pursued her always varied interests. She served as a tutor for the Loyola Writing Tutors Program, a staff member of the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review, a board member of the Public Interest Law Foundation and a research assistant to international law professor Jeffery Atik.
Sheila developed her interest in appellate law early in law school. It was a natural choice given her love of writing and her insatiable curiosity. She learned the fundamentals of appellate advocacy in the classroom and then participated in the Scott Moot Court competition, where she was a semi-finalist. She continued to cultivate her skills as a judicial extern for the Honorable Fred Woods in the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Seven. Sheila worked as a law clerk at GMSR for a year before joining the firm as an associate.
In her spare time, Sheila enjoys yoga, traveling and running in road races.
