Jason Winchester is a trial lawyer who has represented clients in a broad range of complex commercial matters — including intellectual property disputes, multijurisdictional class actions, and constitutional challenges. In addition to trying cases to successful verdict in federal and state courts, Jason has protected clients' interests in numerous appeals.
Recently, Jason and a Jones Day team tried a patent infringement case involving a blockbuster drug to verdict before Seventh Circuit Judge Richard Posner, securing a permanent injunction that was upheld by the Federal Circuit. The same team was later successful in expanding that injunction to block subsequent infringing efforts by the defendant. Jason also devotes substantial time to defending pharmaceutical companies in multijurisdictional actions brought by the United States, various state attorneys general, and private class action plaintiffs alleging False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Act violations. In addition to preparing such matters for trial, Jason has assisted clients with the complex negotiation and implementation of global settlements. Outside the courtroom, Jason regularly advises pharmaceutical companies about matters involving regulatory bodies such as the Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Pharmacopoeia.
Jason is active within Jones Day and in the community. He serves on the Firm's Recruiting Committee and as the Trial Practice associate coordinator. Outside the office, he and his family work with groups to advance research and awareness of childhood stroke and cerebral palsy.
