LaRue Williams has over 35 years experience in construction and surety law. He is Board Certified as a specialist by the Florida Bar in Construction Law, Business Litigation Law, and Civil Trial Law. He is also certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is a member of several national and statewide construction related professional organizations including the section of Dispute Resolution of the American Bar Association. He has served for years as steering committee member of the Florida Bar publication, Florida Construction Law and Practice, and has authored Chapter 1 (Introduction) and Chapter 11 (Delay Claims). He has successfully handled hundreds of construction and surety law issues in state and federal courts and has arbitrated construction disputes throughout the United States.
He has participated as teaching team member of Trial Advocacy class at University of Florida Law School; Judge in National Institute of Trial Advocacy competition; and has lectured for the Florida Bar, Lorman Seminars, Engineering News Record, Association of Designers and Developers, Construction Claims Consultants and Engineers Group, Associated General Contractors (AGC) and other organizations. He has written numerous papers and articles relating to commercial litigation, professional liability litigation, construction liens, lien foreclosurers, construction law, construction litigation and arbitration. He serves from time to time as an expert witness for law firms seeking attorneys fees in Construction Law, Arbitration, Construction Litigation and Business Litigation.
Mr. Williams has handled numerous construction arbitration matters and serves as a sole arbitrator in construction matters as well as one of three arbitrators on arbitrator panels. Mr. Williams has completed the American Bar Associations three (3) day seminar on "Comprehensive Training in Commercial Arbitration".
