Tim has focused his practice on insurance defense since 1972. After clerking for the Superior Court in Anchorage for one year and spending a year with a major insurance defense firm he went out on his own. Since that time he has represented a number of carriers, insureds and self-insureds on a wide range of matters including product liability, professional malpractice, liquor liability, construction defect, nursing and psychological care facilities, coverage and automobile liability. The damages in these cases have ranged from catastrophic injuries (quadriplegia, paraplegia, brain damage, burns and traumatic amputation) to wrongful death.
He has handled a large number of first party actions involving coverage questions, arson and insurance fraud, six of which he tried to a jury. He is a 10-year member of the board of directors and an instructor at the annual training programs for the Alaska Association of Fire and Arson Investigators. He has attended training programs put on by State Farm Fire & Casualty, the Oregon Fire Marshals Office and other public agencies. He has represented a number of carriers in claims, beginning at the scene investigation and statement under oath stages, through successful jury trials and appeal.
After attending the Air Force Language School at Syracuse University and four years in the Air Force, Tim received his B.S. in Political Science and J.D. degrees from the University of Kentucky. While at the University of Kentucky he spent two years in the Marine Corps Reserve. He is admitted to the Alaska Bar and to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
