Pete Whelan joined Bernabei & Wachtel, PLLC in September 2009 from the litigation group of a larger Washington D.C. firm. He focused on labor and employment litigation at the trial and appellate level, and represented clients pro bono in political asylum and landlord-tenant matters.
Mr. Whelan graduated magna cum laude from the George Mason University School of Law in 2007. He served as a Research Editor for the George Mason Law Review and as a Writing Fellow in the Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis program. As a member of the Moot Court Board, Mr. Whelan and two classmates won the 2007 Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition. During law school, Mr. Whelan worked as a law clerk for a firm specializing in consumer protection matters, and interned with the Honorable Arthur B. Vieregg, Jr. at the Fairfax County Circuit Court.
Prior to law school, Mr. Whelan taught U.S. History at an Alexandria, Virginia middle school. He graduated magna cum laude from the College of William & Mary with a B.A. in American Studies.
Mr. Whelan is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and Virginia, and admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
