Mr. Lowery was born in Douglasville, Georgia on January 14, 1950. He graduated with a B. A. degree, summa cum laude, from Mercer University in 1972 and received his law degree from Harvard University in 1975.
From 1975 to 1977, Mr. Lowery was a law clerk to The Honorable James C. Hill, United States District Court Judge and later Judge for the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits. He joined the predecessor firm to Kutak Rock & Campbell in 1977 and became a partner in 1981.
Mr. Lowery has a broad range of litigation experience in a number of areas, including personal injury, products liability, professional liability, insurance, and trademark and unfair business practices disputes. He is a regular faculty member for the Atlanta College of Trial Advocacy and the NITA trial programs.
He is a member of the Atlanta, Decatur-DeKalb and American Bar Associations and the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
