Link, Robert M.

Robert M. Link is an associate at Sweeney, Gallo, Reich & Bolz LLP and is responsible for various aspects of civil litigation, with an emphasis on contested foreclosures and foreclosure settlement conferences.

Mr. Link has worked closely with loan servicers to effectively respond to a recent wave of state and federal legislation intended to encourage settlements in residential foreclosure cases.  In particular, Mr. Link's practice has focused on mandatory settlement conferences for owner occupied properties subject to foreclosure, the federal Homeowner Affordable Modification Program and potential non-foreclosure alternatives such as short sales and deeds in lieu. Mr. Link also handles contested foreclosure where the federal loan modification program does not apply or a settlement cannot be reached.

Mr. Link obtained a unique insight into real estate, mortgages and subprime lending as a fraud investigator for the New York State Attorney General's Office. Mr. Link's research and legal analysis in support of the Office's subprime lending investigation encouraged lenders to adopt a regulatory framework focused on appraisal independence and valuation protection.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Link was a broadcast journalist for Florida Public Radio and NPR.  Mr. Link received the Edward R. Murrow award in 2005 for journalism excellence.  He was introduced to the law and ultimately pursued a career as an attorney after covering numerous high-profile court cases as a reporter.

Robert M. Link graduated from the City University of New York School of Law in 2009 and received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University in 2003. Mr. Link is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Queens County Bar Association.
