Matthew Dawson is a litigator who specializes in appellate practice. Prior to joining Brooks Wilkins Sharkey & Turco as a litigation and bankruptcy associate, Mr. Dawson worked extensively as law clerk for the Honorable Christopher M. Murray, Michigan Court of Appeals. His tenure on the Court's professional staff provided him with invaluable insight into structuring legal arguments, briefs, and case theories in the most persuasive and technically accurate manner possible. He applies those skills on a daily basis for the firm's litigation and bankruptcy clients.
In addition to his broad experience at the Court of Appeals, Mr. Dawson also served as Legislative Counsel to the Honorable Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraska's First Congressional District where he drafted legislation and was responsible for office ethics compliance and procedures.
Recent Experience Includes:
- Drafted brief obtaining peremptory reversal in Michigan Court of Appeals on behalf of Tier One automotive supplier
- Participated on defense team on behalf of Tier One automotive supplier and drafted brief successfully obtaining an order of dismissal in United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan
- Participated on defense team successfully defending numerous student loans in Adversary Proceedings in the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan and Northern District of Ohio
