Lewis, Hilary L.

Dan J. Wallis is a native of North Texas who was raised in the town of Paris, approximately 90 miles northeast of Dallas. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1995 from Texas A&M University- Commerce, with a major in business and minor in political science. Mr. Wallis earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio in 1998.

Mr. Wallis has extensive experience representing individuals, businesses, and trustees in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings. He is board certified in consumer bankruptcy law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Although board certified, Mr. Wallis understands that families and businesses filing bankruptcy are under intense financial pressure and strives to efficiently represent his clients in the most cost effective manner and at reasonable rates.

Mr. Wallis is also experienced in the area of family law. He has represented clients in divorce, modifications, child support proceedings, paternity establishment, custody and access proceedings, and enforcement of child support and visitation. In addition to his practice at Bailey & Galyen, Mr. Wallis served for three years as an assistant attorney general in the Child Support Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Texas.

In addition, Mr. Wallis represents clients in federal bankruptcy and civil appeals before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Whether representing a family filing a chapter 13 bankruptcy to save their home from foreclosure, a small business owner filing chapter 11 to save her livelihood and employees' jobs, or a parent involved in a child custody dispute, Mr. Wallis understands that a client involved in a bankruptcy or family law proceeding is experiencing an extremely stressful and difficult life event, and strives to represent each client with competence, compassion and patience.

Mr. Wallis is a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International and served as an M1 Abrams armor crewman in the United States Army.
