As an attorney for more than three decades, Marc Lerner is well known in the profession for his extensive background in litigation. He also conducts mediation. Mr. Lerner is able to bring expeditious and fair resolution to even the most complex of cases.
In addition to family law, he also has practiced in such areas as real estate, business, contract and transactional law. He credits his ability to prevail in complex family law matters to his multifaceted legal experience.
Mr. Lerner has received international notoriety for the much-publicized lottery case he won involving a woman who won the lottery and kept the proceeds from her estranged husband. After successfully representing the husband in court, Mr. Lerner appeared on the Today Show, Dateline NBC, CNBC, Court TV, Leeza and many other television and radio programs commenting on the outcome of the case. The judge awarded the entire $1.6 million to Mr. Lerner's client.
Mr. Lerner enjoys an AV rating in the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell Registry, the lawyer rating system that evaluates lawyers and law firms based upon peer review.
Mr. Lerner helped to pass legislation in 2004 for the business and professions code 6450. BP 6450 is a set of guidelines designed to recognize paralegal programs when they were in their infancy, to shape the appropriate guidelines for paralegal licensing, and to define best practices for paralegal conduct.
A graduate of the University of Southern California in 1968, where he earned a B.S. in business, Mr. Lerner also attended USC Law School earning a J.D. in 1971. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1971 and US. Federal District Courts that same year.
Mr. Lerner has been named to the list of Southern California's Super Lawyers 2004 - Present.
