In 1992, Charla Truett graduated cum laude from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1995. Charla is active in various bar associations, including the American Immigration Lawyers Association ("AILA") and the Dallas Bar Association, and community organizations.
Charla joined the firm in 1995. In 2001, Charla became a partner of the firm. She also is certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has been selected by her peers to be included in the 2009 and 2010 editions of The Best Lawyers in America, in the specialty of Immigration Law. Charla has lectured on immigration issues including taxation of foreign nationals, student visas and relocation topics.
Charla has focused her practice on immigration and nationality law, particularly employment and business related immigration. She handles immigration matters for our corporate clients including foreign nurse recruiters, information technology companies, and small, family owned businesses. Charla mostly enjoys preparing petitions and supporting documentation for Employment Based First Preference ("EB-1") cases for foreign nationals with extraordinary ability. Her clients have included a wind (structural) engineer from Texas Tech University, a mechanical engineer, a mining engineer, a deep-water petroleum engineer, a daytime drama actress from Mexico, an emergency room physician, and many others.
