Dr. Michael J. Kummermehr's practice focuses primarily on intellectual property law (including licensing), general contract matters and litigation.
Before joining the firm in July 2001, Dr. Kummermehr worked as a full-time academic assistant and junior lecturer at Aachen Institute of Technology for two years. There, Dr. Kummermehr lectured on Civil Law for Engineers and advised various research institutes and their partners, cooperating private companies, on all legal aspects of internet-based scientific research- and technology-transfer projects. He also worked on an 18 month project on mining law initiated by the Ministry of Economics for North Rhine-Westphalia.
Dr. Kummermehr studied in Bristol, UK, Mannheim, and Bonn (doctorate). He is a graduate of Mannheim University (First State Examination 1997). He has completed the requisite internships necessary to qualify as a lawyer in Germany under the supervision of the Supreme Court in Zweibruecken/Pfalz (Second State Examination 1999), including six months at the German School of Administration (Speyer) and a three month placement with the legal department of South Gloucestershire Council, UK.
Dr. Kummermehr is a member of the German Bar Association and of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR).
