Steve took the road less traveled by . . . in becoming a civil litigation lawyer, anyway. After growing up in the Hampton Roads area in southeastern Virginia and attending college in Fredericksburg, he began a fifteen and a half year journey as a public servant with the federal government. Most notably, Steve was employed by two federal law enforcement agencies—the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and U.S. Probation.
Steve served in various capacities during the eight years he was employed by the DEA, including five years as a Special Agent, investigating and assisting in the prosecution of drug trafficking organizations. He was stationed in cities such as Arlington, Virginia; Dallas, Texas; Baltimore, Maryland; and Charleston, South Carolina. After living in Charleston for several years, he decided it was time for a change and new challenges.
Steve became a U.S. Probation Officer at the U.S. District Court in Charleston. Simultaneously, he entered the Charleston School of Law and attended law school at night while working full-time. After four hectic years, which also included the birth of his first child, Steve graduated from law school, ranked fourth in his class.
Prior to joining Kindle Root + Coleman, Steve served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable David C. Norton, Chief U.S. District Judge, District of South Carolina, from 2009 to 2011. In addition to working on a wide variety of criminal and civil matters, Steve had the opportunity to work on several cases on appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Steve now represents business entities in construction defect, personal injury, and products liability cases. Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and children, as well as their three dogs. He also enjoys playing tennis and fishing.
