Perry was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on July 13, 1950 and currently resides in Wheaton, Illinois.  Perry is married and has four (4) children, Myles (32), Brooke (30), Perry (4) and Jill (1).

Professional:
In July, 2010 Perry retired as the Senior Judge of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit, DuPage County, IL.

In November 1996, Perry was elected Circuit Court Judge for DuPage County, Illinois and was retained as Judge in 2002 and 2008.  Perry was assigned to the Felony Division. 

In August, 1995, Perry was appointed Circuit Court Judge for DuPage County, Illinois.

In April 1992, Perry was appointed Presiding Judge of the combined Misdemeanor, DUI and Traffic Divisions for DuPage County, Illinois, which consisted of ten (10) Judges.

In April 1988, Perry was appointed Presiding Judge of the Traffic Division and was also appointed a Member of the Executive Committee of the Courts.

In August, 1987 Perry was appointed Associate Judge for DuPage County, IL.

Perry has been Speaker to the Illinois State Bar Association and the DuPage County Bar Association.

Perry is one of a handful of Illinois Judges appointed and trained as a Trainer of Trainers in the area of Alcohol and Substance Abuse, Treatment and Sentencing Issues.

In 2007 Perry was one of two Illinois Judges appointed to Secretary of State Jesse White’s Task Force on teenage driving.

  • Recognized by the Supreme Court Administrative Office for his contributions to Judicial Education.
  • Appointed to the State Bar Association Traffic Laws and Courts Committee.
  • Appointed by the Supreme Court to its Traffic Rules Committee.
  • Appointed by the Supreme Court to the faculty of New Judge Seminars, Driving under the Influence Education Seminars and the State-wide Judicial Education Conference Seminars.
  • In 1994 he developed a monitoring system to increase compliance with court-ordered alcohol/drug counseling sentences.  This has resulted in greater compliance, fewer persons required to return to court and contributions to victims of impaired drivers who operate our Victim Impact Panel.
  • In 1992 he reorganized the Misdemeanor Division of the DuPage County Circuit Court.  This reorganization resulted in Perry hearing all driving under the influence of alcohol cases and assigning domestic violence cases to a separate courtroom.  This change increased efficiency to all participants in the judicial system.
  • In 1989 he developed a program for mail-in court supervision for minor traffic cases.  As a result of this program, over 50% of minor traffic cases are mailed in, which resulted in moving one judge to other duties, savings to police and municipalities and increased convenience to our citizens.
