Carolyn Thompson's practice is concentrated in the representation of electric and gas utilities and gas pipelines before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). She has participated in numerous rate cases and rulemaking proceedings on behalf of interstate pipelines, intrastate pipelines, local distribution companies, and investor-owned electric utilities. Carolyn has assisted clients with drafting tariffs, precedent agreements, and contracts and assuring compliance with FERC policies and regulations. She has represented clients in enforcement matters at the FERC and has represented electric utilities at the Department of Energy in securing presidential permits and export authorizations for the export of electricity across international borders.
She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the Energy Bar Association (EBA). She has served as student notes editor and as articles editor for the Energy Law Journal published by the EBA and is a past member of the board of directors for the EBA.
