Joseph Khawam is a senior associate in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the International Litigation and International Arbitration Practice Groups. He joined the firm in 2006.
Practice
Mr. Khawam represents clients in a wide range of domestic and cross-border disputes. His practice focuses on international litigation and arbitration, complex commercial litigation and corporate investigations. He has represented US and foreign companies and individuals before various international arbitration tribunals, US trial and appellate courts and US regulatory and executive agencies.
While in law school, Mr. Khawam worked in the Department of Political Affairs at the United Nations, where he served on a UN team that advised the Iraqi government during the 2006 Iraqi constitutional amendment process. He also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Chester J. Straub of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and interned with the Honorable Victor Marrero of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Mr. Khawam is a member of the American Society of International Law, American Bar Association (Section of International Law), ICC Young Arbitrators Forum and the District of Columbia and New York State Bar Associations. He also serves as the Middle East Regional Editor of Foreign Policy Digest, a monthly magazine of international affairs.
