DOROTHY M. KEOGH has 20 years of experience as a trial lawyer involved with serious personal injury trials. Her practice is devoted to representing individuals who suffer severe personal injuries because of the carelessness and negligence of others. Other lawyers frequently retain her as their trial counsel.
Ms. Keogh was born, raised and educated in Dublin, Ireland. She received her law degree from University College Dublin, and went on to study to become a Solicitor at the Law School of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland. After being invited to serve as an apprentice at a prestigious Wall Street law firm for two summers, Ms. Keogh decided to pursue her legal career in New York. She was admitted to practice at the Bar of the State of New York in 1987. She is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court Eastern District of New York, and the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York.
Her practice of law has been devoted exclusively to personal injury litigation and the pursuit of people's rights. Ms. Keogh strives to make herself accessible to her clients by always being available to them. In the courtroom she is a tireless and determined trial advocate fighting for their rights. Ms. Keogh has been recognized as an Advocate by the National College of Advocacy.
Ms. Keogh has been an active member of many community and professional organizations including the Association of Trial Lawyers of America; the New York State Trial Lawyers Association; and has been a member of the Insurance Committee of the New York County Lawyers Association. She has completed the Ultimate Trial Advocacy Program of the American Trial Lawyers Association. She is a member of the Lawyers' Brigade for Voting Rights.
Ms. Keogh has lobbied members of Congress as a delegate to the Women's Caucus Lobby Days, an annual event sponsored by ATLA for trial lawyers to make their voices heard by continuing to fight for victims' rights for all Americans.
ATLA women trial lawyers from 32 states came to Washington D.C. to meet with Democratic and Republican members of the U.S. Congress and Senate on the issue of medical malpractice, and specifically to urge members to oppose a medical malpractice bill (H.R. 5) with nothing to help doctors with high insurance rates but giving sweeping liability protections to drug companies that knowingly market deadly drugs like Vioxx and by making it substantially more difficult for injured patients to receive compensation for injuries caused by medical negligence. Companies or professionals who engage in gross negligence shouldn't get special protections.
State delegations met with members of the U.S. Congress and Senate on Capitol Hill. Ms. Keogh, as a New York delegate met with Representative Nita Lowey D-NY, Senator Charles Schumer, D-NY and Senator Hillary Clinton D-NY.
Ms. Keogh also spoke with Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL), a member of the House Judiciary Committee on the importance of preserving the civil justice system, and fighting for the rights of women, children, and seniors, who are often overlooked.
Ms. Keogh is a senior partner at KEOGH CRISPI, P.C. representing injured plaintiffs including clients referred by attorneys throughout New York and across the country in every type of personal injury case in the State of New York. She feels very privileged to also represent Irish residents who were injured in the United States.
