Michelle Stowell received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis; her Master of Arts degree from Georgetown University; and her Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law with Great Distinction, where she was ranked 6th in her class. 

Ms. Stowell has practiced law in the greater Sacramento Area since 2002 and has practiced Family Law exclusively since 2003.  She is one of a limited number of attorneys designated as a Certified Family Law Specialist by the California Board of Legal Specializations, a part of the State Bar of California.  As a certified specialist, she has taken and passed an in-depth written examination, demonstrated a high level of expertise in family law and fulfilled ongoing educational requirements.

Ms. Stowell has eight years of experience as a family law attorney with Downey Brand LLP where she acquired extensive knowledge about complex family law issues including custody, child and spousal support, business valuations, as well as other community property issues.  She practices in the greater Sacramento Area including, but not limited to, Sacramento County, Placer County, Yolo County, El Dorado County, San Joaquin County, and Amador County.

Ms. Stowell has extensive litigation experience; however, her primary goal is reaching settlements that benefit her clients whenever possible without the need for costly litigation. When settlement is not possible, Ms. Stowell represents her clients through trial.
In addition to litigation services, Ms. Stowell is also a family law mediator.

Ms. Stowell is admitted to practice before the State Courts of California.
