Marty Stern is a partner in the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Chicago office. He is a past member of the firm's Management Committee and former Co-chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. He focuses his practice on most aspects of intellectual property law with emphasis on litigation, licensing, patent and trademark prosecution matters including infringement and clearance studies, and unfair competition matters such as the protection of trade secrets and the enforcement of employee restrictive covenants.
Mr. Stern is, and has been over the years, involved in numerous
complex patent litigation matters and provides litigation counseling to
clients on a regular basis.
Mr. Stern also has extensive experience in U.S. and foreign patent prosecution matters in the mechanical arts, including the management of client patent portfolios worldwide. Some of the diverse technical fields in which Mr. Stern has worked include electrical switch gears, mobility access systems, lighting systems, thermal transfer devices, kitchen appliances and utensils, bath and shower products, commercial ovens, storage and material handling systems, digital wide-format printers, automotive seating, merchandise displays, injection molding processes and equipment, toys, office furniture and equipment, and infant feeding and care products.
