Jim Joedecke helps lead the Litigation Group of Andersen, Tate & Carr. His practice is focused in the areas of contract and business litigation, franchising litigation, condemnation and real estate litigation, bankruptcy, tax appeals and landlord/tenant disputes. Mr. Joedecke represents a variety of businesses and individuals in trial and appellate litigation around the country, as well as before local government boards and agencies, and in mediation and arbitration. Mr. Joedecke has argued successfully before the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court.
Mr. Joedecke received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Emory University in 1993 and received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1996.
Mr. Joedecke was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Georgia in 1996 and the State of South Carolina in 1997. Mr. Joedecke is licensed to practice before the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern District of Georgia, the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Georgia and the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern District of Georgia. Mr. Joedecke has also been admitted to practice pro hac vice in courts around the Country. Mr. Joedecke is a member of the State Bar of Georgia (Bankruptcy Section and Eminent Domain), the Federal Bar Association and the Gwinnett County Bar Association.
Mr. Joedecke is also active in the community. Mr. Joedecke served as coach of the South Gwinnett High School Mock Trial Team for many years and was named Outstanding Attorney Coach by the State Bar of Georgia. Mr. Joedecke serves on the Board of the American Cancer Society. Mr. Joedecke is actively involved in the Cancer Society's Relay for Life and has completed two marathons for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team-in-Training program. Mr. Joedecke represents indigent defendants before Gwinnett County's Juvenile Courts through the Gwinnett Bar Association's Truancy Intervention Project. Mr. Joedecke is a graduate of the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce's 2006 Leadership Gwinnett Class. Mr. Joedecke is also a member of the University of Georgia School of Law's Younger Law Alumni Committee.
