Peter is a Vietnam War era veteran. After completing two years in the Army, he immediately began a twenty year career with the New York City Police Department. After five years he was promoted to sergeant and then later to lieutenant. He received a B. S. degree, cum laude, in Behavioral Sciences from the New York Institute of Technology in Westbury, New York.
Peter was awarded the Juris Doctor degree from City of New York Law School and has been admitted practice in New York and Pennsylvania. Peter has experience in Social Security Disability and telecommunications law. He has been an adjunct instructor in criminal justice and police science at three colleges.
After ten years, he retired in 2011 from the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) where he was a veterans' disability rating specialist, hearing officer, and appeals team member. He has evaluated thousands of military veterans' claims for VA compensation and pension benefits. In his last four years of employment with the VA, Peter worked in a VA Regional Office where he evaluated military veterans' appeals for service connection for disabilities, increases in disability ratings, and was he chosen by the VA to be a primary VA disability rating specialist who decided claims involving Agent Orange exposure, and claims of military service connection for ischemic heart, B cell type leukemia, diabetes mellitus, type II, and Parkinson's disease (application of the Nehmer Court decision).
Peter has significant and extensive VA experience in the evaluation of disabilities that involve all the body systems. Peter has decided thousands of VA claims and appeals, including but not limited to mental disorders, post-traumatic stress, musculoskeletal injury, traumatic brain injury, diabetes, hearing impairments, disorders of the nervous system, muscle injuries, scars, skin disease, cancer, erectile dysfunction, the cardiovascular system, and disorders of the feet.
