Stephen was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Stephen was admitted to the Bar of the State of California as well as the United States District Court for the Central District in 1981. Stephen obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) from Georgetown University in 1978 and served on the personal staff of U.S. Senator Henry M. Jackson. He obtained his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University in 1981. Stephen is a member of the Los Angeles County and American Bar Associations, the State Bar of California, the Defense Research Institute, and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. His practice, in addition to general products liability matters, is focused upon the areas of fire litigation, and matters involving fitness equipment and sports-related injuries. Stephen's practice is also centered upon complex litigation, including the defense of class actions and toxic torts, and business and commercial litigation. He has tried several cases to verdict and has served as counsel of record in litigation in more than fifteen states. He serves as an arbitrator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Stephen is conversant in French.
