Ms. Smith specializes in legal writing involving complex plaintiffs’ litigation in the practice areas of serious personal injury, civil rights, and employment discrimination.  Ms. Smith also has a background in complex business litigation.  Ms. Smith has practiced at Howard, Rice, Nemerovski, Canady & Falk in San Francisco, California, and Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Ms. Smith has worked as the Civil Litigation Program Attorney for the Continuing Education of the Bar, University of California, Berkeley, and was responsible for the civil litigation CLE curriculum.  In addition to having clerked for federal district courts in the Northern District of California and Hawaii, Ms. Smith has clerked for the Iowa Supreme Court.  Ms. Smith is a graduate of Hastings College of the Law, University of California, San Francisco, and was a member of the Hastings Law Review.
