Karey Skiermont practices general commercial litigation in federal and state courts throughout the country and has significant experience in all phases of litigation, including all aspects of discovery, motion practice, oral argument, trial, and appeals. She has represented clients in a wide variety of matters, including but not limited to class actions, contract disputes, defense of a major international pharmaceutical company in drug pricing litigation, products liability litigation, and actions arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Karey has twice won summary judgment in federal consumer credit litigation cases under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and successfully defended those wins on appeal to the Seventh Circuit. Karey was a member of the trial team defending a client against RICO, insurance fraud, tax fraud, mail fraud, and wire fraud charges. In addition, she successfully represented a pro bono client petitioning for asylum in the United States, having fled his home country of Cameroon because of political persecution.
