Mr. Skalaban handles a wide variety of complex cases pending in federal, state, and appellate courts. Mr. Skalaban focuses his practice on high stakes causation/damages cases, contract disputes, government contract matters, and serial pharmaceutical product liability cases. His experience includes counseling on emerging pharmaceutical product liability issues. He also has represented clients in white collar/antitrust, construction, insurance coverage, and pharmaceutical intellectual property matters.
In numerous cases, Mr. Skalaban has effectively managed large-scale, complicated discovery (including e-discovery). Mr. Skalaban has personally taken or defended over forty depositions in cases where the claims asserted exceeded 300 million dollars. Mr. Skalaban is experienced in both the courtroom and preparing cases of trial. For example, Mr. Skalaban first-chaired a two-week jury trial in Jefferson County Colorado, styled Serpentix vs. Centric-Jones. There, the jury returned a no-negligence verdict for the defendant, the Firm’s client. In addition, Mr. Skalaban was an integral part of the pretrial and trial team that achieved a successful trial verdict for three utility clients in the Spent Nuclear Fuel litigation, then pending in the United States Court of Federal Claims. Mr. Skalaban has prepared company employees -- including senior executives at the highest levels of the client companies -- to provide testimony at deposition, trial, or grand jury.
Mr. Skalaban was a member of the George Washington University Law Review. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Skalaban served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lawrence Margolis, United States Court of Federal Claims. Thereafter, Mr. Skalaban clerked for the Honorable Wilson Cowen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
