Melanie J. Sims is an associate attorney at Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen. As an associate attorney, Melanie works on many types of personal injury cases including construction negligence, products liability, medical
malpractice, premises liability and auto liability.
Born and raised in Chicago, Melanie got her bachelor's degree at Purdue University in 2007, and then returned to Chicago to attend law school at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. While in law school, Melanie
developed a firm belief in the justice system, and it became clear to her that the best way to utilize this system to satisfy her inherent desire to help people would be through the practice of personal injury law. After her first year of law school, Melanie began working at Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen as a law clerk. She continued to work there throughout law school, working on various personal injury matters with the firm's talented
attorneys. Upon graduating from law school and passing the bar exam, Melanie seamlessly transitioned into the role of associate attorney.
In addition to her desire to assist people in need, Melanie strives to become an accomplished trial lawyer. Melanie recognizes that with some of the top trial lawyers in the nation, Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen is
the best training ground for aspiring trial lawyers.
At Loyola Law School, Melanie excelled in the trial practice programs, earning a certificate in advocacy. She was able to use these skills to assist in teaching the Law in American Society class at Nicholas Senn High School. While there, she also prepared the high school juniors and seniors to compete in the Circuit Court of Cook County's Mock Trial Competition. Melanie became an active member in the Illinois Trial Lawyer's Association,
assisting in writing a chapter for the Medical Malpractice Trial Notebook as well as other materials that were distributed to attorneys at ITLA seminars.
