Richard Hughes, a graduate of Indiana University and the University of Denver College of Law, has hosted scores of seminars, workshops and panel discussions on a variety of topics including probate avoidance, tax savings, disability issues, asset-protection strategies, Colorado Medicaid law, Veterans' benefits and trust planning.
Mr. Hughes is a member of the Denver Bar Association, the Elder Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Council, the Alzheimer's Association, the Southwest Denver Estate Planning Council, the Colorado Estate Planning Education Council and WealthCounsel. He is a former director of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys and Liberty Savings Bank, FSB.
He is proud of his LexisNexis® Martindale-Hubbell® AV Peer Review and Bar Register icon. This is one of the most sought-after ratings and symbols of the legal profession. Only 5% of all law firms in the country qualify and are listed with an AV rating. The "A" in the AV is the highest rating given for legal ability; the "V" signifies adherence to the highest ethical standards.
Mr. Hughes is most proud of his two talented teenage daughters, Hallie and Lauren; his loyal staff of 16 professionals; and the privilege of serving over 500,000 members of forty of Colorado's best state and federal credit unions through the firm's Credit Union Group Legal Benefits Plan.
Whether speaking in a seminar or confidential client setting, Mr. Hughes translates the law and planning strategies into plain English and zeros in on real-life issues that concern most every American family – regardless of means.
