Caroline Simone was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where she was a standout student and athlete, playing basketball, volleyball, and softball. Upon graduating high school from St. Teresa's Academy, Caroline continued her athletic career earning Conference Player of the Year in softball at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She attended Southern Methodist University's Dedman's School of Law, where she competed in mock trial and moot court competitions. Caroline honed her courtroom skills as a student attorney in the Criminal Defense Clinic at SMU and volunteering at the Federal Public Defenders' Office. She spent her summers during law school working for a criminal defense attorney in Kansas City, participating in a variety of cases, including capital murder. She graduated from SMU with a Juris Doctorate, accepting a position at The Wright Firm upon graduation. During her time there, she practiced family law and started the criminal division of the firm. Caroline joined the Denton County District Attorney's Office in 2007, serving as a prosecutor for over four years, where she built a reputation as an aggressive trial lawyer. In 2011, Caroline joined Jackson and Hagen as a partner in the firm.
