Pete Shen is a counsel in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group. He joined the firm in 2005. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Shen represented clients in a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including licensing, litigation and patent portfolio management and counseling.
Practice
His current practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, particularly patent litigation. His litigation experience encompasses various areas of technology including biologics, chemical synthesis, semiconductor manufacture and microarchitecture, manufacturing simulation software, banking software, telecommunication trading software, business performance software, digital camera technology, health information management software, and oral care technology.
Before attending law school, Dr. Shen completed his doctoral studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, and worked as a research scientist in the Department of Pharmacology at the New York University Medical Center. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at scientific conferences.

- Arbinet-Thexchange, Inc. v. World-Link: represented plaintiff Arbinet-Thexchange in a patent infringement suit relating to telecommunication exchanges.
- Information Technology Innovation LLC v. Motorola, Inc. et al.: defended Brooks Automation, Inc. against allegations of infringement of patent relating to simulation software for manufacturing processes.
- DataTreasury v. HSBC: defended HSBC against allegations of infringement of patents relating to bank checking processing.
- VIRxSYS, Inc. v. Lentigen Corp.: defended Lentigen against allegations of trade secret theft and unfair competition relating to lentiviral technology.
- Hyperion Solutions Corp. v. OutlookSoft Corp.: defended OutlookSoft against allegations of infringement of patents relating to business performance software.
