Robert J. Sharkey is an attorney and shareholder of the Firm. He is a native of Battle Creek, Michigan. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1973 and later received the Distinguished Alumni Award. Bob received his law degree, cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law in 1978 and joined the Firm in 1980 after two years of practice.
Bob's expertise is primarily in civil litigation in all courts, including extensive experience in commercial litigation, personal injury, civil rights cases involving police officers and municipal officers, employment law, family law including domestic relations, and estate and business planning.
Bob is admitted to practice law in Indiana as well as Michigan. He is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Tax Court, the 6th and 7th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the Western District of Michigan.
Bob's professional memberships include Calhoun County and American Bar Associations, the State Bar of Michigan and Indiana Bar Association. He is an adjunct professor teaching classes in Law at Kellogg Community College and in Organizational Management in the Masters Program at Spring Arbor University.
Bob has been very active in the Battle Creek community including serving as Chair of the Battle Creek Downtown Development Authority. He is the retired chairman of Local Board 217 of the U.S. Selective Service System and is Judge Advocate U.S. Air Force/CAP, Great Lakes Region, holding the grade of Lt. Colonel.
