Nicci joined our practice in January 2013, bringing with her fourteen years of litigation experience. Nicci practices in the areas of family law, child welfare, termination of parental rights, adoption and personal injury.
Nicci was born in 1968, in Berkley, California. When she was five years old, Nicci's family relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where she grew up and attended public schools. Nicci graduated second in her class from Flowing Wells High School and attended the University of Arizona as a Merit Scholar. She graduated from the U of A, Magna Cum Laude with a BA in English Literature. She attended the James E. Rogers College of Law in Tucson, Arizona, on academic scholarship. In law school, Nicci was a writer and Note and Comment Editor for the Arizona Journal of International and Comparative Law.
Nicci grew up in a family that valued community service. Her father was a Pima County Sheriff's deputy and her mother was a school teacher. Shortly after graduation, Nicci followed her parents' example and went to work as an Assistant Attorney General representing Child Protective Services. Nicci litigated hundreds of contested dependency and severance cases involving child abuse and neglect, including numerous high profile cases. In her position with the Arizona Attorney General, Nicci trained fellow attorneys in the areas of child welfare law and litigation.
Nicci took a break from the practice of law in 2003, after the birth of her second child. She considers the three years she spent at home with her two young children invaluable.
Nicci gained experience in personal injury law and complex litigation issues, working for a small private Tucson law firm for on year. She returned to her position as Assistant Attorney General, where she continued to practice child welfare law for the next five years before joining Khalidi and Hinderaker.
Nicci loves spending time with her two children, her husband, whom she met in law school, and their three spirited dogs. Her hobbies include, hiking, playing the piano with her daughter, attending U of A basketball games and cheering for her kids at their numerous sporting events.
