Sherry Hartel Haus is a counsel in the firm's Securities and Litigation/Controversy Departments, and a member of the Securities Litigation and Enforcement Practice Group. She joined the firm in 2005. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Haus was associated with a leading law firm in Palo Alto, California.
Practice
Ms. Haus has provided legal defense for public and financial services companies, as well as officers and directors, facing complex securities fraud actions and derivative actions. Ms. Haus also conducts internal investigations and defends investigations for those subject to enforcement actions by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, FINRA and other government agencies and self-regulatory organizations.
She was a trial team member for Howard v. Hui, one of only eight securities class actions tried to verdict in the last decade, and one of The National Law Journal's Top 20 Defense Verdicts of 2002. Ms. Haus has represented, among others, First Marblehead Corporation; Citrix Systems, Inc.; Netflix, Inc.; Pax World Mutual Funds; Oak Technology, Inc.; SupportSoft, Inc.; White Electronic Designs Corp.; Sonus Networks, Inc., and Accelerated (Occam) Networks, Inc.
From October 2007 to May 2008, Ms. Haus served as Special Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Ms. Haus prosecuted criminal cases, argued dispositive motions and tried over a dozen cases before judges and juries.
During law school, Ms. Haus interned with the Clean Air Task Force in Boston, where she assisted with the major environmental case Browner (Whitman) v. American Trucking Associations, et. al.
