Mr. Sanchez defends complex lawsuits, including mass tort claims and claims involving international plaintiffs. His current practice is focused on environmental litigation, government contractor defense litigation, Alien Tort Statute litigation, and facility security clearances. Mr. Sanchez's experience covers a broad range of areas, including international discovery, government contract compliance, international law enforcement issues, national security/anti-terrorism issues, geographic technology, aerial operations procedures and technology, and work with diverse experts, from toxicologists to systems analysts. Mr. Sanchez is experienced with effectively dealing with high-level foreign diplomats and foreign enforcement entities, as well as U.S. federal and military agencies.
Mr. Sanchez is also focused in the field of cybersecurity regulation, particularly as it affects the Defense Industrial Base. He is the current chair of the National Defense Industrial Association's (NDIA) legislative committee concerning cyber issues.
Prior to joining Hollingsworth LLP, Mr. Sanchez served on active duty as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps, and continues in the Marine Corps Reserve as an appellate lawyer. On active duty, he served as a prosecutor, trial defense counsel, appellate defense counsel, and as a special federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's Office. He served as lead counsel in numerous jury cases tried to verdict. As appellate counsel, he prepared briefs and presented oral arguments to appellate courts and appealed cases up to the United States Supreme Court. He was assigned to handle some of the most complex military justice litigation, including the successful appeal of a high profile flight mishap involving a military aircraft accident that resulted in wrongful death claims, a claim involving highly classified information, as well as trials to verdict concerning military service members and the anthrax vaccine. Mr. Sanchez also served as deputy staff judge advocate to the military commander overseeing heavy equipment refurbishment for the Army and Marine Corps on the West Coast. He advised on environmental compliance matters, property and tort claims, and ethics compliance concerning government contractors.
Mr. Sanchez has received the Meritorious Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, among other awards. He is fluent in Spanish.
