I am president of the law firm of Sam, Reynolds & Evershed, P.C., Vernal, Utah. This firm consists of three attorneys, plus full and part-time staff. This firm was originally formed in 1996 as a solo practice.

During the course of my practice of law, I have represented numerous businesses, including partnerships, LLCs, closely and publicly held corporations, and non-profit organizations, in general corporate matters, governance, mergers and acquisitions, financing, shareholder matters, employment, civil litigation and appellate work. I have acted as fiduciary in numerous cases, including the following: administration and disbursement of settlement proceeds through the law firm IOLTA account; the oversight of custodians as a court appointed auditor; the representation of minors, persons under disability and incapacitated individuals in proceedings involving the appointment of guardians and custodians.

I have acted as a title agent for Attorney’s Title Guaranty Fund, Inc. since 1993. I have been a shareholder of Attorney’s Title Guaranty Fund, Inc. since 2000. I acted as title and settlement agent for more than a hundred real estate transactions which involved the receipt, administration and disbursement of settlement proceeds, clearing of liens and recording of transfer and lien documents.

I have represented creditors, banks and other financial institutions in matters related to foreclosures and bankruptcy.

I have represented Vernal City as the Vernal City Attorney in matters including interlocal agreements, special districts, bonding, municipal tax, tax foreclosures, commercial development, litigation, appellate work, and criminal prosecution from 1996 through 2000.

I presided as the appointed interim Chief Judge over the Ute Indian Tribal Court of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation, Ft. Duchesne, Utah, from 2004 to 2008, and as Associate Judge from 2002 to 2004, on a part-time basis. As such, I presided in this general jurisdiction Tribal Court over criminal and civil matters, from petty disputes up to complex employment, contract, discrimination and other significant issues. I also represented the Ute Indian Tribe in Federal Court and in the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in a dispute involving the Tribal Court officials. I also represented the Tribal Court in contract issues, interlocal agreements and cooperative
arrangements involving the Tribal Court.

I have represented various other clients in a wide area of practice, including civil litigation, real estate, commercial leasing, UCC issues, probates, estates, natural resources, Indian law, Chapter 7 and 13 consumer bankruptcy, family law, and personal injury. Practice emphasis is litigation, business associations, taxes, real estate, state and municipal government, contracts, and Indian law.

I was an Assistant Attorney General from 1995 through 1996, for the Utah Attorney General's Office, in the Child Protection Division, Uintah Basin, Utah office. This work included juvenile court litigation in child protection and termination of parental rights cases.

I was a Deputy County Attorney in 1995 for the Duchesne County Attorney's Office, Duchesne, Utah. This work included criminal prosecution and representation of Duchesne County in civil matters.

I was an attorney in private practice from 1992 to 1995, in Provo, Utah. My practice included corporations, title insurance, real estate law, family law, personal injury, civil and criminal litigation, and Chapter 7 and 13 consumer bankruptcies.

I was a mediator in the Court-Annexed Alternative Dispute Resolution Program from 1994-1995, for the Third District Court, Salt Lake County, Utah. As such, I participated as mediator in several mediation conferences for the purpose of settlement of civil and domestic relations disputes.

I was a judicial law clerk from 1990 to 1992 for the Honorable Howard H. Maetani, Fourth District Court, State of Utah, Provo, Utah.

I was a tax accountant from 1989 to 1990 for Ernst & Young, in San Francisco,
California. As such, I performed work in tax compliance and research for individual, fiduciary
and corporate clients.

I served as a member of the Eighth Judicial District Nominating Commission under appointment by Governor Jon M. Huntsman of the State of Utah (May 2009 - Feb. 2010).
