Kent Rutledge has been with the Firm since 1974. He has extensive experience in a broad range of litigation, but concentrates his practice in the areas of professional liability defense, commercial litigation, insurance and bad faith litigation, products liability defense, and other civil litigation. He practices in all of the Federal and State Courts in Wyoming and is admitted to practice in the Federal Court in the District of Colorado and in the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Kent was raised on the family's ranch in southeastern Wyoming. He was active in sports and in 4-H and FFA during his youth. He attributes much of his success as a lawyer to the values he learned on the ranch and from these activities. Kent received his undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Wyoming. After joining the Firm, he became active as a volunteer with the prestigious Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration, eventually serving as the chairman for the rodeo and as the general chairman for this famous event. He has served on numerous non-profit boards and is currently on the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Foundation Board, as well as serving the NIRA as its general legal counsel. He has also been active in his professional organizations, having served as state chairman for the Defense Research Institute and American College of Trial Lawyers. Kent and his wife, Corinne, have three daughters (one who is an MBA, one who is a lawyer, and one who is a doctor).
