Mr. Rifkin has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in complex matrimonial matters and other intricate personal and contractual relationships. Mr. Rifkin is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and an adjunct professor of law at Michigan State University College of Law (and previously at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law).  He is recognized by his peer lawyers in Michigan as one of the premier family law attorneys in the state, having been named to Best Lawyers in America for 2013, dBusiness Magazine’s Top Lawyers, Michigan Super Lawyers 2008-2013, and Martindale-Hubbell’s Peer Review Rating AV Preeminent™ 5.0 out of 5 for each of the last ten years, which is the highest possible rating of legal ability and ethical standards, as established by confidential opinions from members of the Michigan Bar.  Mr. Rifkin has tried cases to judges and juries in federal and state courts throughout Michigan, and he successfully has  represented clients in courts in Michigan, Illinois, California, and Colorado.


Mr. Rifkin graduated with Distinction from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and as a member of the Honors College. After attending the University of Michigan Medical School for a year, Mr. Rifkin went on to the University of Michigan Law School, where he won the Henry M. Campbell Moot Court Competition and taught legal research and writing, winning an award as the year’s outstanding legal research and writing instructor.
