Matthew E. Russell was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in South Bend, Indiana. He attended Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ where he obtained bachelors degrees in History, Political Science and English. Matthew then moved to San Diego, CA where he received his law degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in May 2007. After passing the July 2007 California bar exam, he became licensed to practice in December 2007. Matthew’s workers’ compensation experience arises from a legal internship during law school with a boutique law office in San Diego handling claims for City of San Diego and County of San Diego police and firefighters. Following law school, he joined an employment law firm in San Diego in the workers’ compensation department handling a wide array of injuries on behalf of injured workers with many of the largest unions in San Diego County including Municipal Employees Association, Teamsters, United Food and Commercial Workers, California Teachers Association and many others.
