Mary Tanagho Ross graduated from UCLA School of Law. While at UCLA, Mary received a certificate from the Epstein Program in Public Interest Law and Policy, a program which prepares law students to represent traditionally underserved clients. As part of the UCLA International Justice Clinic, Mary traveled to Liberia to investigate the rights afforded to victim-witnesses of sexual violence who choose to testify in court. Mary’s commitment to upholding the rights of survivors of injustice began during college where she served in Zambia and South Africa advocating for the rights of orphans and victims of abuse.
During law school, Mary worked at Public Counsel, where she successfully represented an asylum seeker fleeing severe domestic violence. Mary also worked at the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST), where she represented victims of human trafficking in obtaining immigration relief. Prior to law school, Mary worked as a human rights intern at the International Justice Mission (IJM), where she researched and prepared memoranda on human rights abuses occurring in countries with IJM field offices.
While in law school, Mary was an extern for the Honorable Arthur Alarcón of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Following her graduation, Mary served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Valerie P. Cooke in the U.S. District Court in the District of Nevada. During her clerkship, Mary gained extensive experience in civil rights litigation where she drafted federal opinions adjudicating civil rights lawsuits brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
Mary brings her experience and passion for representing those who have suffered injustice to her work at the firm.
Mary speaks fluent Arabic and conversational Spanish.
