Mr. Griffis works primarily in the area of medical device and pharmaceutical products liability defense and associated regulatory counseling. He has been instrumental in the successful resolution of many of the Firm’s complex toxics cases, including in Daubert victories and other summary dispositions, in settlements, and in trial. He practices in federal and state jurisdictions at both the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. Griffis coordinates serial litigation, both of individual cases in state and federal jurisdictions throughout the country and class actions and Multidistrict Litigations (“MDLs”). He has helped clients effectively respond to massive multi-jurisdictional discovery. He has spoken and written on issues relevant to toxics product defense, including electronic discovery, scientific evidence, and punitive damages. Mr. Griffis also has defended contract claims and related fraud issues involving international projects and has litigated insurance coverage matters on behalf of corporate policyholders.
Mr. Griffis was an Editor of the Virginia Law Review. Following graduation from law school, he served as a clerk to the Honorable Glenn Williams of the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
