Ruth Griggs is a member of the Healthcare Practice Group and focuses her practice defending medical professionals and practices from claims of malpractice and advising on malpractice coverage issues. She is based in the Richmond office of the firm.
Her legal experience includes defense of health care providers for cases in state and federal courts throughout Virginia. While in law school Ruth earned clerkships with the Honorable S. Randolph Sengel, Commonwealth's Attorney for City of Alexandria and with the Honorable Stanley P. Klein in the Fairfax Circuit Court, for whom she continued to work beyond graduation.
After earning her undergraduate degree, Ruth served in the United States Air Force as an Intelligence Officer in electronic combat operations at Mountain Home Air Force base in Idaho and at Royal Air Force Base (RAF) Alconbury in the United Kingdom. After her tours of duty, she worked on RAF Mildenhall in the United Kingdom as a College Site Administrator and Substitute Teacher.
In 1998, Ruth was elected to the Board of Supervisors in Prince William County, representing the Occoquan Magisterial District. She completed the final year of the term of the prior supervisor and served one full subsequent term during which she entered law school. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Prince William County Action in the Community Through Service (ACTS), a group fighting hunger and homelessness in the county for forty years.
