Mr. Robinson is a partner in the firm of Slowik & Robinson. He specializes in a wide variety of immigration areas including health care, employment, academic, J waivers, multinational executives and specialty workers, and family-based petitions and applications. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Ohio State and Columbus Bar Associations.

Mr. Robinson is also a National Hockey League Players' Association Certified Player Representative working with Edge Sports Management, LLC www.edgesportsmanagement.com.

Before joining with Donald Slowik, Mr. Robinson worked in the immigration practice groups of a large law firm of nearly 400 attorneys and a small law firm of 40 attorneys. While he views these experiences to have benefited his growth as an immigration attorney and legal professional, he agrees that the legal environment which offers clients the best synergy of value, attention and expertise is in a boutique practice rather than a large law firm setting.

Mr. Robinson graduated from The Ohio State University College of Law, where he received the FLAS (Foreign Language and Area Studies) Fellowship on his way to obtaining a Certificate in International Trade and Development, which included a summer program of study at the Ecole Superior de Commerce de Nantes Atlantique. Mr. Robinson's cum laude undergraduate degree in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) prepared him well for his current specialty and provided him the opportunity to study at the John E. Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg.

Mr. Robinson has been published by local and state bar associations in the area of immigration law and he is a co-author of Genocide in Cambodia: The Trial of Pol Pot and Ieng Sary (University of Pennsylvania Press, April 2000). Mr. Robinson has also been recognized for his expertise in the field of immigration law, having served as Special Counsel to the State of Ohio on immigration matters and having appeared in the Best Lawyers Consumer Guide in the area of Immigration Law.

Mr. Robinson also strongly believes in encouraging attorneys to engage in pro bono representation for the betterment of the legal profession and the community as a whole. Our attorney's ethical canons speak to this important duty for all practicing lawyers, as such, he serves a large not-for-profit organization (Community Refugee Immigration Services) involved in the welfare and representation of recent refugees/asylees and indigent immigrants in Central Ohio as President of their Board of Trustees and represents clients in need of immigration assistance.

Mr. Robinson enjoys speaking and teaching courses on all aspects of immigration law to fellow attorneys in CLE programs and to graduate students as a member of the faculty of Capital University Law School Immersion Paralegal Program. Mr. Robinson is also Special Counsel to the State of Ohio, Attorney General's Office, on immigration matters. He was named "Ohio Rising Star Super Lawyer for 2005" by Law and Politics (top 2.5% of attorneys practicing 10 years or less, under the age of 40).

Accomplishments:

Mr. Robinson has also been recognized for his expertise in the field of immigration law, having served as Special Counsel to the State of Ohio on immigration matters and having appeared in the Best Lawyers Consumer Guide in the area of Immigration Law. Since 2004, I have had the honor of being listed annually as an Ohio Rising Star (Super Lawyer) (only 2.5% of attorneys in Ohio can receive this honor) in the area of immigration law by Law and Politics. Rising Stars are chosen by peers as being among the top up-and-coming lawyers under 40 (or practicing less than 10 years). I have also been chosen to be listed in Best Lawyers Consumer Guide.

Personal Biography Presented by Ken Robinson:

Why did you decide to become an attorney?

Growing up, I was taught that there is nothing more rewarding than being in the service of others. Also, I wanted to use advocacy, rhetoric, and the spoken and written word to resolve disputes (which essentially means, as a child, I was picked on and needed to find a non-physical way to stand up for myself... so I relied on a sharp tongue...). When I was young, I thought the practice of law was noble (and still do). I should also mention that I was encouraged to be a lawyer to compete with my twin brother (the doctor) and I knew that if I became a lawyer with my clients' interest always in mind and I practiced with integrity, I would make a decent living.

What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?

Please review my work experience.

What made you choose your primary area of law?

I have always been intrigued by travel and languages. I enjoy international politics, business, and dealing directly with individuals. Immigration law is a perfect synergy of these elements.

What makes your law firm unique?

Slowik & Robinson, LLC is a boutique law firm practicing primarily in the areas of immigration law, employment law and small business counseling. Our lawyers have big firm expertise in these specialties, but strive to deliver personalized client services at a more economical cost. Our firm serves the immigration law needs of businesses and individuals located throughout the U.S. Our firm offers fluency in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, French and Spanish.

Describe your ideal client.

On time.

Describe your personal interests and hobbies.

I have two beautiful sons (don't take my word for it, ask my wife...), two ornery cats, one beautiful and ornery wife. They take up most of my free time; however, I enjoy travel, I am a TV (American Idol, C-Span/CNN and 24) and a movie-junkie (anything that has subtitles or a talking bear), and weekend warrior athletics.
