Jorge Rodriguez-Micheo is a Capital Member in the Firm. He practices labor and employment law, as well as consumer's law. In the employment area, he counsels clients on local and federal employment laws (Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, etc.), major staff reductions and facility closures, labor law implications of mergers and acquisitions, and wage and hour matters. Mr. Rodriguez-Micheo litigates cases involving discrimination, wrongful discharge, non-compete, and other employment-related matters in federal and local courts. In the labor area, Rodriguez-Micheo advises companies on union avoidance and proactive employee relations plans and has been involved in numerous union campaigns and elections in Puerto Rico, as well as negotiations of Collective Bargaining Agreements both in the private and public sector. He also represents clients before the National Labor Relations Board. In the consumer's complaints area, Mr. Rodriguez-Micheo counsels clients in the retail industry on the local laws and regulations prohibiting fraudulent practices and advertisement and litigates consumer's complaints and charges before the Department of Consumer Affairs of Puerto Rico and the local courts.
