Daniel P. Gerash has been a trial lawyer in Colorado for 24 years. He is a managing partner with the Denver law firm of Gerash Steiner, P.C. He is an experienced trial lawyer practicing in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, and medical malpractice. He has been lead and co-counsel in criminal trials involving First Degree Murder, other lesser degrees of homicide, sexual assault, various felony assault cases, and a variety of misdemeanor offenses including assaults, domestic violence cases, DUI/DUID cases, and various municipal offenses. His criminal law experience includes Federal court cases and criminal cases across the state of Colorado. He has been practicing in the Boulder County courts since 1987 when he was assigned misdemeanor cases with Legal Aid while in law school at the University of Colorado School of Law.
He began his career as a lawyer with the Denver regional Public Defender's office litigating numerous serious felony and homicide trials for eight years. In 1995, Mr. Gerash left the public realm to join his renowned father, Walter L. Gerash in private practice specializing in personal injury and criminal defense. After six years as a partner with his father and trying several murder cases together, Dan started his own law firm with his wife, Karen M. Gerash, a specialist in criminal Appellate Advocacy. Walter L. Gerash is now in an “of counsel” capacity with the firm and continues to impart his words of wisdom and guidance over select cases in the firm. Dan received his B.A. degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in psychology and his J.D. degree from the University of Colorado, School of Law in 1988. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the America Association of Justice, the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, He has been chosen in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 for the Best Lawyers in America publication. He has also attained Martindale Hubbell’s premiere AV rating.
