Donald F. Frei is of counsel with Wood, Herron & Evans and is involved in all phases of the firm's IP practice. His expertise is concentrated in the areas of domestic and international (including the European Community and Pacific Rim) patents and trademarks. He also focuses on counseling, licensing, litigation, preparation and negotiation of agreements and intellectual property enforcement strategy. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1965 and the District Of Columbia Bar in 1982, Donald is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Since joining Wood, Herron & Evans in 1965, Donald has been listed in the Intellectual Property section of The Best Lawyers In America continuously since its inception and has served as a panelist on many professional forums relating to various aspects of intellectual property. Donald is also co-author of What Every Engineer Should Know About Patents.
Donald received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 1961. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law School in 1965. Donald is an active member of the Advisory Board of I.P. Litigator, and the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the Northern Kentucky University College of Law.
Donald is an active member of the American, Ohio and Cincinnati Bar Associations, as well as the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He is a past chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Ohio Bar Association. He resides in Cincinnati with his wife, Cindy.
