Sarah Pfuhl is a partner in the firm's Securities Department, and a member of the Securities Litigation and Enforcement Practice Group. She joined the firm in 2004.
Practice
Ms. Pfuhl's practice focuses on securities enforcement and regulatory matters, including internal corporate investigations and securities regulatory investigations, examinations and actions. She has represented public companies, financial institutions and individuals under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, the US Congress, self-regulatory organizations and state attorneys general in a variety of matters.
Ms. Pfuhl’s recent matters have involved representing several global financial institutions in connection with congressional investigations into the 2008 financial crisis; insider trading investigations; investigations into securities lending transactions; independent inquiries into revenue recognition and reserve manipulation issues; and investor disclosure issues.
Ms. Pfuhl has an active pro bono practice that includes successfully representing individuals seeking asylum in the United States and individuals seeking orders of protection in domestic violence cases. She has won permanent residency status for a Ghanaian citizen through a 1-360 petition under the Violence Against Women Act; and political asylum for a Georgian citizen persecuted for journalist activities in Russia. She has also worked on research projects for the Open Society on international criminal law issues and for the Government of Liberia on issues relating to the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Professional Activities
Ms. Pfuhl is a member of the New York Bar Association and a member of Sanctuary for Families' Legal Advisory Council.
