Jim Farrington is a partner in the firm's Corporate Practice Department and chairs the firm's Biotechnology and Life Sciences Practice Group. For each of the last several years, Jim was selected by Practical Law Company/Global Counsel to the category of "highly recommended" U.S. lawyer in corporate partnering and was specifically recognized for his extensive U.S. and European experience. Jim's practice includes commercial business transactions, especially acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing and other technology transfer transactions. A large portion of his clients are based in Europe. Jim has significant experience in biotech and other pharmaceutical and medical device transactions, including international license and distribution agreements, strategic alliances, venture capital investments, and research and development agreements.
Jim and his family lived in Stockholm in 1998-99 when he was leading the legal team for a global business transaction.
After graduating with a chemical engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame, Jim worked as an engineering and product manager for nearly nine years in the air pollution control field. Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Jim was a partner in the New York office of Mannheimer Swartling, Sweden's largest law firm.
Jim graduated with a B.Ch.E. from the University of Notre Dame and received his law degree with high honors from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
